Flu clinics - Autumn 2020:  We have had an unprecended turn out for our weekend of flu clinics.  Thank you to everyone who attended, thank you for your patience and for so diligently following our instructions.

BEWARE OF SCAMMERS

 There is heightened coverage around the recent Coronavirus outbreak around the world, which is now severely impacting on the UK and the NHS. 

 Unfortunately fraudsters are targeting these circumstances to take advantage of public fear and concern

 We have been made aware that our patients are receiving phone calls, texts and letters from fraudsters. They will try and obtain your personal details and in particular your NHS number.

 Scammers are sophisticated, opportunistic and will try many ways to get the information they want. They often target the vulnerable.

 If you are suspicious, do not give any details over the phone, hang up and then ring your GP Practice to confirm.

If you need a medical certificate due to self-isolation, please do not call the surgery. Please visit https://111.nhs.uk/isolation-note

If you have a new persistent cough and/or fever and/or loss or change in taste or smell, your should self-isolate for 10 days.  Do not call 111 unless your symptoms worsen and you need medical help. 

DO NOT ENTER THE SURGERY UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN SPECIFICALLY ASKED TO DO SO BY A CLINICIAN. PLEASE WEAR YOUR OWN FACE MASK OR COVERING IN ORDER TO HELP US PRESERVE OUR PPE STOCK FOR CLINICIANS.

PLEASE COLLECT PRESCRIPTIONS FROM OUR DISPENSARY WINDOW.  PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE DISPENSARY TO ASK IF YOUR REPEAT PRESCRIPTION IS READY, PLEASE WAIT 3 WORKING DAYS BEFORE COLLECTING.  IF THERE IS A SUPPLY PROBLEM WE WILL CONTACT YOU.

IF YOU ARE SELF-ISOLATING, PLEASE ASK A FRIEND OR NEIGHBOUR TO COLLECT YOUR PRESCRIPTION ON YOUR BEHALF AND DROP IT ON YOUR DOORSTEP.  THEY MUST MAINTAIN A DISTANCE OF AT LEAST 2 METRES FROM YOU. 

FROM 1ST AUGUST, THE SURGERY WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO DELIVER MEDICATIONS TO OUR PATIENTS THAT WERE SHIELDING. 

Our Open Access / Walk-in morning clinic is suspended.  If you need to consult with a doctor, please call the surgery before 10am and you will be triaged by telephone.

Everyone is being reminded to follow Public Health England advice to:

• Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.

• Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

• Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.

Carers Support

Do you look after someone?

You could be looking after a family member, friend or neighbour of any age, who through physical or mental illness, disability, addiction or frailty cannot manage without your help. If so, you are a carer, and your surgery can offer you support from the GP Carer Support Adviser. Even if you don’t see yourself as a ‘carer’, if you are looking after someone who could not cope without your support, help is available.

Carers will be offered a convenient appointment with a GP Carer Support Adviser, at the surgery or at home. The service is designed to reach out to carers, telling them about the support available and looking at numerous issues including social isolation, housing, legal issues, accessing correct benefits and arranging respite care, for example. The service is free and confidential. The GP Carer Support Adviser will treat you in a friendly and understanding way, with no pressure – you can take things at your own pace.

Throughout the UK approximately six thousand new people per day are identified as carers. Carers are twice as likely to suffer ill health as those who do not have caring responsibilities. Caring for someone can be very rewarding, but people who provide care can find their own needs are neglected. The demands of caring can affect carers’ employment, finances and relationships, and have a detrimental effect on their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
