24th December 2021 update

Covid vaccination clinics are taking place at Grey Gable Surgery.  You will be sent a text from us with an 'accurx' link for booking (or called if you do not have a mobile number). Please be patient and await your invite.

Covid vaccinations booster eligibility - for details please see: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/coronavirus-booster-vaccine/

Flu vaccination eligibility 2021/22:  everyone over 50 years old (on 31/3/2022) and everyone classed as At-risk for influenza

Covid-19 testing

Please remember that if you develop symptoms of Covid-19 you must get a PCR test at a testing centre.  The home kits should only be used if you do not have symptoms.  Please see https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing/get-tested-for-coronavirus/ for details.

Access to the surgery and GP appointments

Please do not enter if the surgery you have Covid-19 symptoms, have been told to isolate or are awaiting a test result.  When entering the surgery please wear a mask, sanitise your hands. Do not arrive early for your appointment due to limited space in the waiting room.

If you have an urgent matter if possible please call before 10am and you will receive a call back from the duty doctor.  By calling before 10am it allows the doctors to manage their workload and for our team to process any medication necessary on the same day.  Thank you.

Face to face appointments with the GPs without a prior telephone call are available however they can no longer be booked online due to untested patients with covid symptoms booking online and arriving at the surgery.  This puts our clinicians and our ability to provide a service to all our patients at risk.

We are trialling a half and half model of telephone and face to face appointments as we appreciate that many patients prefer telephone calls. Additionally we must still control the number of patients in the waiting room in order to protect our vulnerable patients.  This model will be under constant review.

Open Access will unfortunately have to remain as telephone appointments for now.  Please be assured that our GPs are seeing every patient that needs to be seen.

Please be patient while we go through this period of adjustment.  Any abuse of our staff may lead to removal from our surgery and from our registered list.

Covid vaccination status (passport)

We are unable to issue vaccination status certificates at the practice.  Please see https://www.gov.uk/guidance/demonstrating-your-covid-19-vaccination-status-when-travelling-abroad for further information.

Proof of your vaccination status will be available on the NHSapp. The NHSapp can be downloaded from https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/nhs-app/id1388411277 for iPhone or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nhs.online.nhsonline for android.

Alternatively you can call the NHS helpline on 119 (from 17 May) and ask for a letter to be posted to you. This must be at least 5 days after you’ve completed your course of the vaccine, the letter may to take up to 5 days to reach you.

Appointment Options

Patient AccessWe offer 10 minute appointments with doctors and appointments of various lengths with nurses, that can be booked 4 weeks ahead.

You can book your GP appointment and your blood test (requested by surgery or hospital only) online (using patient-access if you have already registered), by telephone or in person. E-mail bookings are not accepted. December 2021 update: Face to face appointments with the doctor can no longer be booked online due to untested patients with covid symptoms booking online and arriving at the surgery.  This puts our clinicians and our ability to provide a service to all our patients at risk.

If you have more than one condition that you wish to discuss with the clinician, please advise our Receptionist when booking if you need a longer appointment. We still offer the open access surgeries (by telephone during Covid-19 pandemic) every morning if your matter is urgent and you call before 10am, however we encourage our patients to pre-book to enable us to manage demand efficiently.

For on line appointments please visit ‘patient-access’.

The NHS app allows you to book appointments, order your prescriptions and view your records (where enabled).  Please click on the link appropriate to your device.

Please note when registering for the NHS App, when asked if you have a letter from your GP practice, you can select 'No' and proceed to register using your driving licence or passport.

Missed appointments - again unfortunately due to an increase in patients not attending for their appointment please note that if you do not attend 3 appointments you will be asked to attend the Open Access clinic if you wish to see a GP.  If you wish to see a nurse you will be asked to arrive 30 minutes before your appointment time.  If you do not arrive and inform reception of your presence, your appointment will be released to another patient.

Cancelling your appointment - Please note that if you do not give sufficient notice to cancel your appointment it will be regarded as a non attendance.  This applies equally to cancellation online or by telephone.  We ask that you give at least 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment unless there are exceptional circumstances.
